Two People Arrested Following Armed Response Unit Stop in Newquay

Armed police carried out a proactive stop in Newquay yesterday, leading to the arrest of two people and the seizure of drugs and a weapon.

The stop was carried out by a Police Armed Response Unit.

Arrests at the roadside

The driver was arrested after testing positive for cocaine and cannabis. Officers also established that he had no insurance, which resulted in his car being seized.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found a large quantity of Class A drugs in the possession of the passenger. She was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine and heroin.

Bodmin address searched

Following the arrests, a search of the woman’s address in Bodmin was authorised.

Bodmin officers attended the property and forced entry. During the search, a zombie knife and further drugs were seized.

Both held in custody

Both individuals were taken into custody, where they spent the night following the arrests.
