Kayakers helped ashore at Padstow after one taken unwell

A paddle along the north coast turned into a joint effort on the water on Friday afternoon, with a lifeboat, a harbour launch and a coastguard team all involved. Three kayakers were brought back into Padstow after one of the group was reported to have fallen ill.

A call to the harbour

The HM Coastguard team at Padstow was tasked at 1413 on Friday 7 August to meet the Rock RNLI lifeboat and the Padstow Harbour launch as they came in. The two boats had already reached the kayakers and taken all three people on board, after one of them was reported as unwell and needing medical attention.

Once the group was aboard, the Rock RNLI crew carried out a medical assessment. After being checked over, none of the three was found to need any further medical help.

Helped onto the pontoon

As the lifeboat came into the harbour, the Padstow coastguard team stepped in to help the three people off the boat and onto the pontoon. Safety advice was passed on before the team was stood down.

The incident was logged as the Padstow team’s 49th tasking of 2026.
