Oddfellows Sunday Lunch Group Brings Members Together in Penryn

A Sunday lunch gathering organised by the Oddfellows Friendly Society is becoming a popular social event for members in west Cornwall.

The West Cornwall Oddfellows Sunday Lunch Group recently held its latest get together at the Halfway House at Rame Cross in Penryn. Around two dozen people attended the event, enjoying a traditional Sunday roast served with classic trimmings.

The lunch brought together members of the society along with their guests for a relaxed afternoon that combined good food with conversation and companionship.

Organisers say the group has quickly become a regular highlight in the social calendar, providing a chance for people to meet, socialise and spend time together in a welcoming setting.

Building friendships across Cornwall

The Sunday lunch group is part of a wider programme of events run by the Plymouth and Truro District of the Oddfellows.

Similar gatherings take place across the district, including in Plymouth and east Cornwall, helping members connect with others across the region.

More events are already planned, with the next Sunday lunch gathering scheduled for April 2026.

A society focused on friendship and support

The Plymouth and Truro District is part of the Oddfellows Friendly Society, one of the UK’s long established societies focused on friendship, care and community spirit.

Membership is open to people of all ages and backgrounds, with a range of social activities taking place across Redruth, Truro, Plymouth and surrounding areas. These include friendship groups, lunches, organised trips, quizzes, presentations, talks, games, competitions and other events.
