Urgent Lifeboat Launch
At 8am on Thursday 6th November 2025, Falmouth Coastguard tasked Penlee Lifeboat to launch its inshore lifeboat, the Mollie and Ivor Dent. With Amy Smith at the helm and RNLI volunteer lifeboatman Finley McReath on board, the crew raced to the scene.
On arrival, they found a man in the water supporting a woman who had been struggling in the surf. Both were brought aboard the lifeboat and rushed back to Penlee Lifeboat Station in Newlyn.
Casualty Taken to Hospital
The man, who had been walking on the beach before wading in to help, did not require further treatment. The woman, who had been lapsing in and out of consciousness, was treated by ambulance crews at the station before being taken to hospital.
Amy Smith said: “There is no doubt the man’s actions has saved the life of the casualty.”
Penzance Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team also attended, and the Coastguard helicopter was called to assist.
