Morrisons Pool praised for ‘robust’ checks as officers inspect knife sale compliance

As part of a national week of action to tackle knife crime, officers from the Camborne, Pool and Redruth Neighbourhood Policing Team have been visiting local retailers to ensure they’re following rules around the sale of knives.

The operation, known as Op Sceptre, focuses on preventing knife crime by checking retailers’ compliance with laws like Challenge 25, which requires anyone selling age-restricted products to ask for ID if a customer looks under 25.

Morrisons Pool recognised for strong procedures

During a visit to Morrisons in Pool, Redruth, police found the store had solid processes in place. Officers reported that staff were up to date with mandatory training, and that the knives were security tagged. Procedures around selling them were being “robustly enforced”.

The team thanked Anna, Customer Services Manager at Morrisons Pool, for playing her part in helping keep the local community safe.

Concerned about someone carrying a knife?

Police are urging people to speak up if they suspect someone is carrying a knife or other weapon.

“It is all of our responsibility to keep each other safe,” they said in the post.

If you know someone who may be carrying a knife, you can report it online at https://orlo.uk/Xhp2G, call 101 for non-emergency concerns, or 999 in an emergency.
