Pool Academy Students Explore Careers in Law

Students at Pool Academy have been given a first-hand look at what a future career in law could involve, after welcoming visiting solicitors into school.

Legal Experts Visit Pool Academy

Pupils at Pool Academy, part of Athena Learning Trust, took part in the school’s first “What’s it like to be a…?” careers session, delivered by representatives from Coodes Solicitors in Truro.

The visiting team explained the different routes into becoming a solicitor, including university study and apprenticeships. They also highlighted the importance of gaining real workplace experience and developing the skills needed to succeed in the profession.

Debating Real-Life Cases

As part of the session, students explored how the law works in real-world situations. They discussed legal cases, debated verdicts and confidently explained the reasoning behind their decisions.

The visit forms part of the school’s wider efforts to inspire students and broaden their horizons. By meeting local professionals and taking part in practical activities, pupils are able to explore the opportunities available to them and make informed choices about their next steps.
