A Night of Celebration for Four Members at Redruth Oddfellows Lodge

What does it take to earn one of the Oddfellows’ most respected honours? For one Cornwall woman, the answer is years of quiet dedication.

Members of the Oddfellows Cornubian Lodge in Redruth gathered for their monthly meeting recently, with the evening turning into a celebration of recognition, friendship and charitable work.

A Milestone Moment for Three Members

Sisters Jan E, Luna Chloe and Jan T were each awarded their White and Blue Degrees during the meeting, marking an important step in their Oddfellows journey.

The ceremony was conducted by the Lodge’s Noble Grand, Bro. Bill, who is a Past Provincial Grand Master.

A Rare Honour for Sister Tina

The standout moment of the evening came when Sister Tina, the Immediate Past Provincial Grand Master, was presented with the Meritorious District Jewel.

The award recognises her longstanding dedication and outstanding service to members, alongside her contributions to numerous charitable causes.

All four recipients received warm applause from members, who took time to reflect on the Society’s ongoing work supporting charities and looking after its membership, particularly when help is needed most.

Friendship at the Heart of It

The evening wrapped up with refreshments and plenty of conversation, something the Lodge prides itself on.

One newer member from Redruth said: “I very much enjoyed the evening and the more I attend, the more I’m glad I joined. Not only these evenings, but also the afternoon friendship groups, lunch gatherings, benefits, on line events and yoga, it’s fantastic.”

More Than Just Monthly Meetings

The Plymouth and Truro District of the Oddfellows is part of one of the UK’s oldest friendly societies, and welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds.

Members across Redruth, Truro, Plymouth and surrounding areas can take part in friendship groups, lunches, organised trips, quizzes, talks, games, competitions and special events.

Membership also includes welfare and care support, a members advice line, access to a travel club and organised holidays, plus opportunities to volunteer and fundraise for good causes locally, nationally and internationally.
