Cornubian Lodge of Oddfellows Welcomes New Leadership in Redruth

Tradition and community were at the heart of a special installation evening held by the Cornubian Lodge of the Oddfellows Friendly Society in Redruth.

Members gathered for the Lodge’s time honoured change of officers, formally welcoming a new leadership team during a ceremony described as rich in symbolism and camaraderie.

A Formal Change of Officers

Local businessman Bill has been appointed Noble Grand and Chair of the Lodge, with Dr Alan stepping into the role of Deputy.

Their installation was carried out with dignity and precision. Pete, Secretary for Plymouth and Truro District, supported proceedings alongside Peter, a long serving Past Provincial Grand Master, who acted as Conductor. Tina fulfilled the role of Right Supporter, overseeing the ceremony as officers, both male and female, accepted their new responsibilities. Outgoing members were warmly thanked for their service over the past year.

The well attended evening reflected what was described as the strength and vitality of the Lodge.

Following the formal proceedings, members enjoyed a relaxed gathering with a spread of savoury and sweet treats, along with wines, beers and soft drinks. New members shared their enthusiasm after experiencing the Society’s blend of tradition and fellowship for the first time.

Speaking after his appointment, Bill highlighted the range of activity across the District:

“The Oddfellows runs friendship groups throughout our District with a wide variety of activities. From popular Sunday lunch groups and chair yoga sessions, games afternoons, quizzes, talks and friendly competitions to evenings celebrating our historic ceremonies there truly is something for everyone.

Alongside this we offer practical and financial support to our members and remain committed to our charitable efforts, local, national and even international. Thank you to everyone who continue to support our lodges and friendship groups. We’re here for our members however they choose to get involved and to do a great deal of good along the way.”

With new leadership now in place, the Cornubian Lodge looks ahead to another year focused on friendship, support and community spirit in Redruth.
