Redruth Businesses Get Two Years of Free Crime Reporting Tools

Shoplifting, theft and antisocial behaviour are the kind of problems that grind down a town centre, and Redruth Town Council reckons it has landed on something that gives local businesses a better shot at fighting back. Every business in the area is being offered two years of free access to a crime reporting platform, with the bill picked up by a mix of police and council money.

What businesses are signing up to

The platform is run by UK Partners Against Crime, known as UKPAC. Members get a crime reporting tool and a dedicated Crime Hub, described as a secure space where business owners can report incidents, share intelligence and pull up real-time alerts. The aim is to help protect staff, customers and the wider community. Signing up also brings regular updates on crime trends, offenders, watch lists and safety advice.

Who is paying for it

The membership has been funded by Police and Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez, alongside grant funding from Redruth Town Council’s TRIP projects. That covers 24 months of free membership for businesses across Redruth.

What the council and police say

Cllr Alison Biscoe, Mayor of Redruth, said: “We are delighted to have received grant funding to provide two years of UKPAC to all businesses in the Redruth area. We hope that this will strengthen collaboration between the Town Council, local businesses, and police, tackling issues such as shoplifting, antisocial behaviour, and theft.”

Louisa Brown, Sector Inspector for Devon and Cornwall Police, said: “Strong partnerships between the police, local authorities and business community are vital in helping us tackle crime, share information, and create safer town centres. I am grateful to the Police and Crime Commissioner and Redruth Town Council for funding UK PAC for two years so that businesses have an easy quicker platform to report crime and share information allowing us to focus resources where they are needed the most.”

How to sign up
