Porthleven and Penzance host four free talks on God

Some questions never quite go away. Where did the universe come from. Who was Jesus. What happens after we die. Over four evenings in July, a pastor and author from Cheltenham will take each one in turn at venues across West Cornwall, and admission is free to anyone who turns up.

The talks

Paul Lyndon Burtwell will present what organisers describe as the latest scientific evidence for the existence of God across four nights, running from Tuesday 14 to Friday 17 July 2026. The talks address questions about God, Jesus Christ and the historical evidence for the resurrection of Jesus.

The series is meant to strengthen the faith of Christians, introduce people to God, and offer thoughtful answers to some of the biggest questions people face. Each evening begins at 7.30pm.

Where and when

The talks move between three venues over the four nights.

• Tuesday 14 July — “The Great Cosmic Whodunnit?”, the case for God’s existence. Hope Church Porthleven, 29 Thomas Street, Porthleven, TR13 9DG
• Wednesday 15 July — “More Than a Man?”, the case for the divinity of Jesus. St Thomas’ Church, Church Road, Heamoor, Penzance, TR18 3JD
• Thursday 16 July — “Dead Man Arise?”, the case for the resurrection of Jesus. Hope Church Alverton, Lansdowne Place, Penzance, TR18 4QB
• Friday 17 July — “The Greatest Offer”, the case for eternal life. Hope Church Alverton, Lansdowne Place, Penzance, TR18 4QB

Who it is for

Admission is free and the evenings are open to people of all persuasions. Organisers say they are intended for anyone interested in exploring the Christian faith, whether churchgoers, sceptics, seekers, or people simply asking life’s big questions.

Paul is a certified apologist with the worldwide Reasonable Faith movement and serves in full-time ministry as Pastor of Clearspring Church in Cheltenham.
