Free Expert Advice on Agroforestry Coming to Royal Cornwall Show

Thinking about planting trees on your land but not sure where to start? The Royal Cornwall Show is offering something that could save farmers and landowners months of guesswork.

The Farming, Food and Nature Hub at this year’s show will host free one-to-one agroforestry and tree planting advice sessions, giving visitors direct access to experts from Cornwall and the wider South West.

What’s on offer

Anyone planning to plant trees on their farm or land can book an appointment with specialists who will look over their plans and answer questions tailored to their site. Visitors are encouraged to bring a map of their farm, land or agroforestry design along with them.

Where possible, organisers will also connect attendees with tree nurseries, equipment suppliers, funders and researchers who will be at the show, with the aim of helping people walk away ready to get started on their projects.

Who you’ll meet

Three organisations are providing advisors at the Hub.

Forest for Cornwall supports residents, businesses and communities across the county to plant agroforestry, woodlands, orchards, hedgerows, parks and gardens, focusing on planting the right trees in the right place for the right purpose.

The Forestry Commission looks after the nation’s forests, working on habitat restoration, sustainable timber production and creating places for people to visit.

The Woodland Trust, the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity, protects, restores and expands wooded landscapes with a vision of woods and trees thriving for people and nature.

Appointments can be booked in advance through Eventbrite or arranged at the show on the day.

The advice sessions are open to Royal Cornwall Show ticket holders only. Show tickets are available on the Royal Cornwall Show website.
