Karon Matten Exhibition to Open at Saltash Studios in April

Free Pop-Up Art Event Lands in Saltash This April

A new pop-up exhibition showcasing the work of local artist Karon Matten is set to open at Saltash Studios this month, offering visitors a chance to explore a colourful collection of screen prints.

The free exhibition will run from 15th to 18th April, open daily between 10am and 4pm, with no booking required.

A Closer Look at Karon’s Work

Karon Matten’s exhibition features a range of screen-printed pieces, with subjects including animals, flowers and personal inspirations. Many of the works have been created at Saltash Studios over the past year, giving visitors an insight into her creative process and her connection to the local arts community.

Karon’s prints are characterised by bold and exotic colour palettes, combined with richly textured, hand-selected papers and delicate gold foiling. Her work brings together careful craftsmanship with an exploration of colour, form and life.

Subjects featured in the exhibition include animals from Dartmoor Zoo, Karon’s own pets and objects that inspire her. A number of pieces are also influenced by Japanese design, culture and mythology.

Opportunity to Take Home Original Work

Visitors will also have the chance to purchase a selection of prints during the exhibition, offering an opportunity to own an original piece of Karon’s work.

Artist Background

Karon Matten developed her screen-printing practice at Dartington College of Arts, where she studied on the Community Arts course for two years. She later continued her training at Crewe and Alsager College, completing an Honours Degree in Creative Arts.

Saltash Studios, which opened in 2025, is focused on supporting creativity, wellbeing and enterprise in South East Cornwall.
