Oddfellows Enjoy Afternoon Tea at Windy Ridge Café, Trerulefoot

Some arguments never get settled, and one of them flared up again over a plate of warm scones in Trerulefoot last week.

Members of the Oddfellows from Plymouth and South East Cornwall came together for an afternoon tea at the Windy Ridge Café in Trerulefoot, swapping stories over cake, sandwiches and a traditional cream tea. The gathering drew a good turnout, with members meeting for food, conversation and what organisers described as good company in relaxed surroundings.

And, of course, no Cornish cream tea would be complete without the question that divides kitchens and counties alike: what goes on the scone first, jam or cream? The debate was light-hearted, and harmony won the day, with members agreeing that personal preference was the only rule that really mattered.

A welcoming afternoon

The informal get-together gave members the chance to catch up with friends, welcome familiar faces and enjoy a community atmosphere. With tea flowing and conversation in full swing, the afternoon was described as both enjoyable and well attended.

Brenda, who arranged the afternoon, said afterwards: “It was wonderful to see everyone together enjoying themselves. There was plenty of laughter, plenty of chatting and of course the usual friendly debate about cream teas. What matters most is that everyone had a lovely time and felt part of the group.”

Organisers thanked the staff at Windy Ridge Café for their hospitality and for helping to make the occasion a success, with everyone already looking forward to the next social gathering.
