Adam Brooks takes final seat in Cornish Pirates ownership

There is one seat left at the table, and it now has a name on it. The Cornish Pirates have completed their ownership consortium, closing out a run of investment that has reshaped who sits behind Cornwall’s professional rugby club.

Adam Brooks, from Brooks Financial Planning, has taken that final seat. He joins Richard Wastnage, Martin Hudson, Phillip Champ and Anthony Whyte as joint owners of the Cornish Pirates, completing a consortium that has grown steadily. His arrival follows news of investment from J. Kenneth (“Kenn”) Moritz and John H. Tippins, as well as Nick Knowles becoming a shareholder.

From the high street banks to his own name above the door

Adam has spent his adult life working in the financial services industry. He started out with the country’s largest banks and wealth managers before eventually setting up on his own, and has been an owner of Brooks Financial Planning since 2019.

That background shows in what he brings to the boardroom. He arrives with a wealth of experience in building a business and driving its expansion, with Cornwall very much at the front of it.

A shirt sponsor becomes a shareholder

Rugby is not new ground for Adam. He is passionate about his rugby and has already been a core sponsor of the Pirates for a number of years, and this season Brooks Financial Planning’s name sits on both the playing shirts and the off field kit.

Speaking after being confirmed as the newest name in the ownership group, Adam Brooks said:
