Cornish Pirates v Ampthill Moved to Camborne RFC with 2pm Kick Off
The Championship fixture between Cornish Pirates and Ampthill has been moved to Camborne RFC, with a revised kick off time of 2pm this Saturday 24th January.
The match was due to be played at the Mennaye, but storm damage has made the ground unsafe.
Why the Match Has Moved
An assessment of the Mennaye found water had entered areas it should not have, leaving the electrics unsafe. As a result, making the ground safe for Saturday became untenable.
The Rugby Football Union visited on Friday to assess the damage and review alternative venues. Camborne RFC was approved, with temporary provision of head injury video technology known as “Hawkeye”. Special dispensation has also been granted to move kick off to 2pm and play without floodlights.
Seating for Season Ticket Holders
All Tribute Grandstand and Microcomms Stand season ticket holders are guaranteed covered seating in the Camborne covered stand. This area will also be used for hospitality guests, away directors, medics, analysts and the media.
Any remaining covered seats will only be available to those purchasing Microcomms tickets online during the week.
Tickets and Entry on the Day
Tickets will be available on the gate for ground access only and will be card payment only, with no cash accepted. Prices are £20 standard, £16 concessions and free entry for children under 16.
Camborne season ticket holders will receive a 20 percent discount. This makes a ground entry ticket £16 and a grandstand ticket £20. Membership cards will need to be shown.
Hospitality and Club Shop
Hospitality guests will be served a two course meal provided by Roseworthy Farms, along with coaches interviews as normal. Due to limited space, no additional hospitality places are available. Match day sponsors, match ball sponsors and sustainability partners SUEZ will be welcomed.
A small selection of Cornish Pirates merchandise will be on sale, again card only.
Getting There
Camborne seconds will be playing on an alternative pitch at the same time and will be using their own car park. Additional parking is available at the school next door. The ground is also a short walk from Camborne town centre and easily reached from the train station.
A Big Occasion at the Rec
The club is expecting a large crowd, with this set to be the biggest occasion at Camborne since the British and Irish Cup final win over Munster in May 2010. The current head coaches were part of that victory and lifted the trophy.
Five minutes before kick off, supporters will sing the anthem “Cornwall My Home”, led on the pitch by Will Keating, who will also entertain the crowd.
Broadcast and Support
The match will be broadcast live on ClubberTV. Supporters are encouraged to raise their voices, with every ticket sold helping during what the club describes as exceptional times, while also supporting Camborne RFC.
Kick off is at 2pm on Saturday 24th January at Camborne RFC.
