Double Victory: How Penrice Academy’s Football Stars Took Cornwall by Storm

Penrice Academy in St Austell is celebrating a remarkable week of sporting success after securing not one, but two County Cup titles in the Cornwall Schools’ Football Association finals.

Year 10 Boys Retain County Cup Crown

The winning streak began on Monday evening when the Year 10 Boys’ Team successfully defended their County Cup title with a dominant display against Truro School.

The team showed superb form throughout the match, continuing their winning legacy from the previous year. Callum (10LS) led the charge with a hat-trick, while Peter (10OB), Ollie (10LS), and Ollie (10JS) also found the back of the net. An own goal from the opposition added to the total, sealing a commanding victory and the team’s second successive county title.

Year 7 Boys Triumph in Nail-Biting Final

Just two days later, the Year 7 Boys’ Team followed in their footsteps with a thrilling win over Falmouth School.

Facing a tense final, the young team demonstrated determination and composure to edge out their opponents 3-2. Morgan (7GS), Alex (7GS), and Jenson (7PB) each scored crucial goals to secure the County Cup title.

“Truly Exceptional” Achievement

Mr Jenkin, Head of PE at Penrice Academy, praised the teams for their outstanding efforts:

“This is a phenomenal achievement by our students and staff. Winning one County Cup is a huge honour, but winning two in the same week is truly exceptional. We are incredibly proud of the determination, sportsmanship and talent shown at both finals. The teams were buoyed by tremendous support from the Penrice community, with staff, students, and families turning out in numbers to cheer on the teams.”
