Truro City land Nottingham Forest forward Zyan Blake on loan

Last season he was named in a Premier League squad for a European night against FC Porto. This Saturday he could be lining up for the Tinners.

Truro City has signed forward Zyan Blake on loan from Nottingham Forest. The 18-year-old will stay with the club until 1 January 2027, and he is cleared to play in this Saturday’s (3 October) Emirates FA Cup game against Cirencester Town if selected.

He will wear the number 11 shirt during his time in Cornwall.

From the City Ground to Truro

Zyan has come up through the ranks at the City Ground and has trained regularly with Forest’s first team squad.

As well as playing for the club’s under-21 side, he was named in the first team squad for last season’s UEFA Europa League tie against FC Porto.

Truro City manager John Askey told trurocity.co.uk the forward brings pace and an eye for goal.

“Zyan has a lot of ability and can go past a player,” he said. “He is quick, has a good shot on him, and has scored goals at youth and under-21 level.

“He can be a good impact player for us and if he does well, he will be looking to start games.”

A sign of where the club is heading

John also sees the deal as a vote of confidence in the club.

“This signing shows we are moving forward because if a club like Nottingham Forest allows players to come to us, it’s because they know the lad is going to get treated properly.

“He is highly rated by Forest even though he is 18 and coming here will bring him out of his shell a bit too.”
