Published On: 21 July 2026Last Updated: 21 July 2026By

Friday evening at the Cornwall FA Grassroots Football Awards, the news landed and the whole room reacted at once. Vicky Fisher, a name well known across Cornish grassroots football, had been confirmed as the county’s permanent Chief Executive Officer.

Cornwall FA has announced that Vicky Fisher will take on the role permanently, a moment the organisation describes as defining for the future of football in Cornwall. Vicky first stepped into the position on an interim basis in February, and her permanent appointment was officially confirmed last Thursday.

She is, in the organisation’s own words, one of their own. A Cornish footballer, coach, volunteer and former Cornwall FA staff member, Vicky grew up locally and has spent most of her life involved in grassroots football.

A leader from the heart of Cornish football

Vicky’s connection to Cornwall’s football community runs deep. Cornwall FA points to her lived experience, her strong local relationships and a genuine passion for supporting the people who keep the game going.

Speaking on her appointment, Vicky said:

“I am delighted to be appointed Chief Executive Officer and proud to continue serving the county that I call home. Having grown up in the local community, this role is incredibly meaningful to me. Our greatest strength is our people. Like any successful football team, success comes from talented individuals working together towards a shared goal. I am inspired every day by the commitment and passion of our staff and volunteers, whose dedication makes a real difference across Cornwall. I look forward to building on our strong foundations, investing in our people, and working with our partners and communities to help Cornwall grow and thrive.”

Chair of the Cornwall FA Board, John Fabby, praised her leadership:

“Vicky’s appointment as permanent CEO reflects the Board’s confidence in her vision and ability to lead the CFA forward. In just six months, her transformational impact on our organisation has been remarkable, and I am excited about the future under her stewardship. I would also like to thank our staff for their unwavering dedication and support in this journey.”

A new era for Cornwall FA

Vicky’s appointment is the first in what Cornwall FA is calling a week of announcements, as it reveals a refreshed team structure it has nicknamed the “new season squad”. The organisation says the changes are designed to strengthen delivery, support volunteers and grow football across the county.

More signings are due to be announced in the coming days.
