St Agnes: a 50p charge is coming to Trevaunance Cove toilets

Tap to pay is arriving somewhere you have probably never reached for your card before. The public toilets at Trevaunance Cove are getting a contactless payment system, and there will be a 50p charge to use them.

St Agnes Parish Council says the money will go towards keeping the facilities open, clean and maintained. That covers cleaning, utilities, repairs, consumables and the ongoing upkeep that keeps the doors open.

What’s changing

A new contactless payment system will be introduced at the Trevaunance Cove toilets shortly. Once it is live, using the facilities will cost 50p, paid by tapping a card or phone.

The Council has described the charge as a contribution towards running costs rather than anything more.

The £10 card that skips the per-visit fee

Regular users who live in the parish do not have to pay 50p every time. St Agnes Parish Council is offering a Residents’ Lifetime Access Card.

For a one-off payment of £10, eligible parish residents get unlimited access to the Council’s public toilets through the contactless system. That includes both Trevaunance Cove and Porthtowan.

Cards are available from the Parish Council Office. You will need to bring proof of identity and proof of address within the parish. Full details are on the St Agnes Parish Council website.

Free access for disabled users

Access for disabled users stays free with a valid RADAR key. That part does not change under the new system.

Where to get your card

Residents’ Cards can be picked up from the Parish Council Office. The Council will also run registration and collection sessions at Trevaunance Cove itself. Dates and times are yet to be announced.
