A St Austell firm is doubling every pound put into four homes

Money going into a plan to bring four homes back to the middle of St Austell is about to count double. One of the town’s own businesses has stepped in to match the next round of investment, pound for pound, and it has been clear about what it wants for the town in return.

St Austell Community Land Trust is raising money to turn 9 Truro Road into four homes let at rents local people can afford. Innovation Nursery, one of the first local businesses to back the trust, has agreed to match the next £4,000 of investments. In practice that means anything put into the fund now goes twice as far, until the £4,000 is used up.

What the town gets out of it

John Brown, managing director of Innovation Nursery, made the case for the scheme in plain terms. He said turning 9 Truro Road into “four homes at rents people can actually pay” would give the town both housing and “a town centre being built for the community”. The trust has framed the wider effort as a way of revitalising the town.

How to back the plan
