Carlyon Bay Beach Disorder: Police Seize Alcohol from Youths

Families heading to Carlyon Bay this summer might want to know what happened on the sand last Friday evening.

St Austell Police were called to the beach and surrounding area following multiple reports of disorder and anti-social behaviour involving a significant number of young people. Officers dispersed several groups and seized alcohol during the response.

A Warning to Parents

Police have issued a direct message to parents of those involved, asking them to take responsibility for knowing where their children are spending their evenings and who they are spending time with. Officers want young people encouraged to use the beach respectfully rather than as a gathering point for disorder.

The force has made clear that anti-social and criminal behaviour affecting families and local residents will not be tolerated, and that robust action will be taken against any young people identified as taking part. That includes the use of both criminal and anti-social behaviour interventions.

Assaults Believed to Have Taken Place

Police also revealed they have received information suggesting a number of assaults occurred at the beach that evening. As of the original post, none of those assaults had been reported officially.
