A routine response to antisocial behaviour in St Austell ended with a vehicle seized, a roadside cannabis warning and a Saltash man in court within 24 hours.

Police in St Austell responded to reports of antisocial behaviour on Thursday 4th June and carried out patrols in areas where suspected drug use had been reported. They were supported by response colleagues from across the county.

During those patrols, officers stopped a vehicle in St Austell town centre.

A passenger was dealt with at the roadside for cannabis possession by way of a community resolution. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and drug driving. The vehicle was seized.

Gary Woodward, 53, of Saltash, has since been charged with driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance. He appeared before court on Friday 5th June in relation to those offences.

Gary admitted to the offences and has been bailed from court for sentencing on 28th August.
