St Austell Concert to Showcase Music and Spoken Word on 26th March

A showcase of music and spoken word is set to take place in St Austell later this month, bringing together performers of all ages from across the local area.

The Celebration Concert of Music and The Spoken Word will be held on Thursday 26th March 2026 at 7pm at St John’s Methodist Church in St Austell. The event is being organised by the St Austell Festival of Music and Speech and aims to highlight talent from the wider St Austell area.

A mix of young talent and experience

The evening will feature a wide range of performers, from younger participants to more experienced acts. The Luxulyan School Choir will perform alongside the Mevagissey shanty group Stuns’ls.

The concert is designed to reflect a broad mix of abilities and styles, bringing together performers at different stages of their musical and spoken word journeys.

Music and spoken word side by side

Audiences can expect a varied programme, with music and spoken word sharing the stage throughout the evening.

Musical performances will include contributions from the St Austell Chamber Orchestra, as well as solo performances on drum kit and tuba. Alongside this, spoken word performances will range from solo poetry recitations to monologues and choral speaking.

Speaking on behalf of the Festival Committee, Rebecca Thomas said:
“We believe that the concert has something to offer everyone as it covers a huge remit from rock and pop to ensemble pieces. It also showcases the Spoken Word in its variety of forms from solo poetry to duologues, and from serious to humorous items.”

Tickets are priced at £3 for single entry or £5 for two people, with free admission for under 18s.
