St Austell Fire Station’s first dog show: five prizes to win

The crew at St Austell usually spend their open day showing off engines and hoses. This year they have added something with a wagging tail. The station is holding its first ever dog show, and the categories have already been revealed for anyone whose four-legged friend fancies a rosette.

What is on offer

St Austell Community Fire Station shared a look at the five categories going up for grabs. There is Best Rescue, Cutest Dog, Fluffiest Dog, Golden Oldie for the older companions, and Most Likely to be a Fire Dog for the pup with the bravest streak.

Judging by the sneak peek, the competition already has a mascot on side. A certain spotty character in a red helmet was on hand for the photo, alongside a line-up of local dogs sitting patiently behind their rosettes.

Keeping it calm for the dogs

The station has thought about the noise. There will be no blue light or siren displays during the dog show, so nervous dogs are not caught out by a sudden burst. Plenty of water bowls will be available too, which matters if the September sun makes an appearance.

When to turn up

The open day runs on Saturday 5 September from 10:00 to 15:00, with the dog show starting at 10:30. The crew are asking owners to get their pups ready and pop the date in the calendar.
