St Austell police team grows with more patrols and drug warrants

The neighbourhood policing team covering St Austell is bigger than it was at the start of the year, and officers say the town has noticed the difference.

A bigger team on the ground

Three new police officers and a PCSO have joined the St Austell neighbourhood team over the past few months, with another officer due to start very soon. More people in the team means more presence across the town and the villages around it, and officers say high-visibility foot patrols have gone up as a result.

What the team has been doing

Alongside the extra patrols, the team has set out some of the work it has carried out recently. That includes:

• Six Misuse of Drugs Act warrants, with suspected drugs, cash and weapons seized and vulnerable people safeguarded
• Antisocial behaviour warnings issued to deter further incidents
• Alcohol seized where it was linked to nuisance behaviour around town
• Arrests made in connection with a number of incidents
• Visits to local businesses and other partners to gather intelligence on prolific offenders

“We know this is our job,” the team said, “but we feel it’s important to update you around some of the work taking place in the town.”

Officers say there is more to come, with a promise to post again soon setting out more specific action taken in St Austell.

“There is absolutely still more work to do,” the team said, “but we’re committed to working closely in our communities and partner agencies to make St Austell a safer place for everyone who lives, works and visits here.”
