St Austell’s Summer Hanging Baskets Are Up, With More to Come

Published On: 7 June 2026Last Updated: 7 June 2026By

There is a moment every year when St Austell Town Centre stops looking like winter and starts looking like summer. It has just arrived.

The summer hanging baskets are now up across the town centre, and they are about to get into their stride. Over the next few weeks they will fill out and settle into a fuller display, bringing colour to the streets right through the warmer months.

Chosen for impact, not just numbers

The baskets are placed in the spots that create the strongest overall effect for the whole town centre. The team behind the displays would happily put up more, but the work has to stay within the available budget.

There is also a practical reason the numbers are capped. Not every bracket in the town centre can take the weight of a basket, especially once the built-in water reservoir is full. Some of those brackets are due to be replaced over the next couple of weeks, and once the new ones are fitted, a few more baskets will be added to the display.

A team effort

The baskets have been supplied by Hay Nurseries, who also helped put them up and will be looking after the watering over the coming months.

The displays are paid for through contributions from BID levy-paying businesses in the town, which is what makes the seasonal show possible year after year.
