Edward Hain Centre Advertises New Administrator Role

There’s a job going at one of St Ives’ busiest community buildings, and it comes with a set of keys.

The Edward Hain Centre for health and wellbeing is on the hunt for a Centre Administrator, a part-time post of 22.5 hours per week. The Centre says the role will suit someone who is well organised, practical and happy working in a community-based setting.

What the job involves

The successful applicant will handle administrative support across the Centre’s services and activities, including sales administration tied to bookings. Based in the Reception Office by the entrance hall, they will be the first point of contact for everyone using the Centre.

Day-to-day duties stretch beyond the desk. Whoever takes the role will help run the building from open to close, which includes locking up and setting up rooms for activities when needed.

One of the bigger parts of the job is on the sales side. The administrator will create sales materials for the Centre’s rental spaces and build and maintain a sales database, including a pipeline of paid bookings for service providers of all kinds.

Strong administration skills are essential, and that means being comfortable with Word and Excel. Previous experience in a reception or administrative role, or something similar, is also desirable. The contract is fixed-term, running until 31st August 2028.

A building with a long history

Now in its third year, the Edward Hain Centre provides both medical and community services to people in St Ives and the surrounding area. It opened in September 2023, having grown out of the former Edward Hain Memorial hospital.

That hospital was founded in 1920 in memory of Captain Edward Hain, the only son of Sir Edward and Lady Catherine Hain, who died at 28. More than a century on, the Centre describes itself as a growing health hub, and says this new post marks another step in that growth.
