Nearly 200 years of Cornish farming

Established in 1834, Stithians Show is Cornwall’s largest one-day agricultural show and remains one of the county’s leading celebrations of farming, food and rural traditions. It draws competitors, exhibitors and visitors from across Cornwall and beyond for a day built around the best of the Cornish countryside.

Hundreds of classes across the rings

The competition programme runs to hundreds of classes across livestock, equestrian and domestic categories. There are cattle, sheep, pigs and goats, alongside equine and showjumping classes, plus canine events including dog showing and agility.

The popular cavy section has been renamed the Stithians Show Cavy Championships after continued growth in entries, and this year it has been awarded National Cavy Club 4 Star Show status.

Visitors can also take in the pigeon and cage bird sections, alongside arts, crafts, cookery and horticulture competitions. Cornwall’s next generation of farming talent will be on show through the Young Farmers’ Clubs competitions.

Beyond the competition rings

Away from the rings there are traditional countryside attractions, including rare breeds displays and demonstrations of rural skills and crafts. The popular steam and vintage vehicle display returns with vehicles from yesteryear, marking Cornwall’s agricultural and industrial heritage.

The fun fair offers attractions for all ages, while trade stands sell everything from cars to clothing, plus local arts and crafts.

A Taste of Cornwall

Food lovers can head for the Taste of Cornwall area, where some of the county’s finest food and drink producers gather. It runs from artisan cheeses and baked goods to local drinks and sweet treats.

Live music and comedy on the main stage

Entertainment carries on throughout the day. Cornish favourite Johnny Cowling performs and comperes on the main stage, joined by live music from Will Keating, True Foxes and St Stythians Band.

Cheaper tickets this year

Admission prices have come down this year thanks to the Government’s Great British Summer Savings VAT reduction. The saving has been passed on in full to child tickets for ages 5 to 16 and to family tickets for two adults and two children, which the show says will help make the day more affordable for families.

Claire Watters, Stithians Show General Secretary, said: “Stithians Show has been bringing communities together for nearly 200 years and remains as popular as ever.

“Whether you’re involved in agriculture, passionate about local food and crafts, or simply looking for a great family day out, there is something for everyone.

“From livestock competitions and vintage machinery to live entertainment, shopping and Cornish food and drink, we look forward to welcoming visitors for another unforgettable show.”

Advance tickets and show memberships can be booked through the Stithians Show website, with visitors encouraged to book ahead to save time on arrival.
