📷 Newborn chicks and Royal Golden Guernsey goat kids are due to make their Heligan debut this Easter as part of the Spring Into Colour event.

A celebration of spring, colour and new life is set to take over The Lost Gardens of Heligan this Easter, with a packed programme running from 3rd to 19th April.

The event, called Spring Into Colour, will transform the estate with everything from mass bulb displays to interactive activities and the arrival of newborn animals.

Baby Animals Take Centre Stage

Visitors heading to Heligan’s Home Farm during the Easter holidays will have the chance to meet newly-hatched chicks and, if timing allows, even watch them hatch.

New lambs are also expected to arrive in time for Easter, alongside Royal Golden Guernsey goat kids making their first appearance at Heligan. They will join the estate’s well-known herd, known for being playful and friendly.

David Harland, chief executive of The Lost Gardens of Heligan, said:
“After the historically horrible weather with which we started the year, spring is finally with us and we’re inviting everyone to come and celebrate it at Heligan.

“Our spring chickens are primed and ready to hatch and are set to join our imminent goat kids and lambs for a true Easter baby animal bonanza. We also have incredible flower displays, pollination-themed games and an extension for our Neon Jungle rollerskate rink.

“Dust off those forgotten sunglasses and come and see how bright spring at Heligan can be!”

60,000 Flowers Set to Bloom

A major highlight will be the display of more than 60,000 spring flowers, already beginning to bloom on the lawn next to the Kitchen Garden.

The display is expected to remain colourful through to May, featuring a succession of bee-friendly blooms including crocuses, daffodils, grape hyacinths and tulips.

Interactive Fun and Creative Activities

Alongside the floral displays, visitors will be encouraged to take part in a range of hands-on activities.

These include a pollination challenge, where visitors throw “pollen” balls into giant flower heads, as well as the chance to contribute to a collaborative artwork and create celebration masks inspired by Heligan’s Giant’s Head.

A free colour-themed field guide will also be available, encouraging visitors to explore the gardens while searching for different colours across the estate.

Neon Jungle Roller Rink Returns

Adding a different splash of colour, the Neon Jungle roller rink has been extended throughout the Easter holidays and will be open daily during the event.

Each 45-minute session costs £10 per person, with skate hire available for an additional £3. Garden admission is not required to use the rink, although pre-booking is recommended via the Neon Jungle page.

Tickets and Local Passes

All Spring Into Colour activities are included within standard garden admission.

Following a pricing trial earlier this year, Heligan has also reduced the cost of its Local Passes, with a Direct Debit pass now priced the same as a single day ticket.

More information, including ticket bookings and pass details, can be found on the Heligan website.
