New Armed Forces Hub opens in Torpoint next week

A quick chat over a brew is about to become a regular fixture on Fore Street. From next Tuesday, veterans, serving personnel and military families in Torpoint will have a set place to walk in, ask a question, or simply sit down with people who understand service life, without having to work out first which organisation to call.

A new stop for the town’s Armed Forces community

Veterans Regroup CIC is launching a new Armed Forces Hub in Torpoint next week, working in partnership with Torpoint Town Council and Team Raleigh CIC. The launch takes place at Torpoint Library on Tuesday 8 September 2026, from 10am to 12 noon.

Torpoint’s long-standing ties to the Royal Navy, and its position next door to HMS Raleigh, make the town a natural fit for a regular, accessible meeting point. The hub is designed to give the local Armed Forces community somewhere to access free support from organisations that understand military life, alongside a brew and some camaraderie.

Ten organisations have already confirmed they will be at the launch, with more expected to join. Rather than expecting people to work out which service they need and approach it alone, the hub brings different forms of support together in one place. Visitors can talk informally and confidentially about housing, finances, employment, health and wellbeing, as well as connect with others in the Armed Forces community.

No wrong door

The Torpoint hub joins Veterans Regroup CIC’s growing network of multi-agency Armed Forces Hubs across Cornwall, built around what the organisation calls a “No Wrong Door” approach, helping people reach the right support even if they are not sure where to start.

Jane Jiwa, Managing Director of Veterans Regroup CIC, said accessing support should not depend on knowing which organisation to contact or having to navigate multiple services, and that the hubs make that journey simpler by bringing organisations together in one welcoming, accessible place.

“People can come in for a brew and some camaraderie, have an informal conversation and, if they need support, we can help connect them directly with the right people,” Jane said. “Just as importantly, organisations can work alongside each other, share expertise and make referrals, reducing the risk of people falling through gaps between services.”

“Torpoint has a strong Armed Forces identity and we want the community to have this support on its doorstep. Having 10 organisations already committed to the launch shows what can be achieved through genuine partnership working and a shared commitment to our Armed Forces Community.”

Launch details

There is no need to book an appointment or have a specific problem in mind. Veterans, serving personnel, reservists and military family members are all welcome to drop in.
