Three years on, two Torpoint firefighters pass their final test

Three years. Countless hours of training. One final review. For two members of the Torpoint fire crew, it all came down to a single sign-off, and they have just passed it.

Three years of work, signed off

Firefighters Lee Shepherd and James Dart have completed their final stage review with Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, making them fully competent firefighters. The news was shared by Torpoint Community Fire Station, where both serve as On-Call firefighters.

Getting there took three years. Over that time Lee and James put in countless hours of training, both on the job and through their task books, all building towards the final stage review. The station said the pair had upheld the meaning and standards of what it takes to become an On-Call firefighter.

A growing crew

The station’s On-Call crew is now 13 strong. According to the station, the team continues to grow in experience, knowledge and capability, strengthening both the station itself and the service it provides to the local community.

“A huge congratulations to Lee and James on a fantastic achievement,” the station said. “Your hard work, commitment and dedication have certainly paid off. Welcome to the crew of competent firefighters, lads!”
