Catch the Bus Month returns to Cornwall this September

There is a month every year built entirely around getting people to try something they already do every day, just with a bit more fanfare attached to it. September is that month for buses, and Cornwall is joining in.

Catch the Bus Month 2026 begins on 1 September, organised nationally by Bus Users UK, the passenger champion charity that runs the campaign to celebrate buses and push for change across the sector. Transport for Cornwall has signed up again this year, adding its own local programme to the national push.

What’s happening through September

Transport for Cornwall says details will be shared across its website, its Facebook page and the Real Time Information screens found at bus stops around the county throughout the month. That will include events and competitions, along with a series of “Myth-BUSting” posts aimed at clearing up common misconceptions about bus travel in Cornwall.

The operator has not yet confirmed what those events and competitions will involve, saying only that “further details” are still to follow.

A chance to be spotted

Whatever shape the month takes, Transport for Cornwall is framing it as much about presence as promotion, saying it looks forward to seeing passengers “whilst out and about on the buses in Cornwall” over the coming weeks.

For now, the starting gun is the date itself. The rest, Transport for Cornwall says, is still to be announced.
