Overnight Maintenance Works on A38 Glynn Valley 16th to 20th March
Drivers using the A38 through the Glynn Valley in Cornwall are being warned about a series of overnight road closures later this month while routine maintenance work takes place.
According to National Highways: South-West, the A38 will be closed between Turfdown Cross and Twelvewoods roundabout at the junction with the A390 at Dobwalls from Monday 16th March to Friday 20th March 2026.
The closures will take place each night between 8.30pm and 6am.

What work will be carried out
During the overnight closures, several maintenance tasks will be completed along this section of the A38.
These include clearing verges and drains to help prevent flooding, resurfacing small sections of the road, and cleaning road signs to ensure they remain clearly visible for drivers.
Vegetation will also be trimmed, while road markings and road studs will be refreshed where needed.
Cornwall Council will also use the closure period to carry out litter clearing along the route.
Diversion routes in place
Well signed diversion routes will be in place while the road is closed.
All light vehicles travelling both eastbound and westbound will be diverted via Lostwithiel. Heavy goods vehicles travelling westbound will also follow this route.
HGVs over 20 tonnes travelling eastbound will instead be diverted along the A30 to Launceston, before joining the A388 and rejoining the A38 at Carkeel roundabout.
Access to Bodmin Parkway Station
Access to Bodmin Parkway Station will be maintained throughout the works.
However, drivers needing to enter or exit the station overnight will need to travel via Turfdown roundabout.

Road closures can also change at short notice. The latest information can be checked on the National Highways daily closures page or through the Traffic England website, which provides live travel alerts and details of incidents across the network.
