Castle Street in Truro to close Thursday for emergency works

Anyone due to drive through the middle of Truro on Thursday will want to find another way round. A stretch of Castle Street is set to shut for the whole day while South West Water carries out emergency works, and the closure could run into Friday morning if the job takes longer than planned.

Where the closure runs, and when

Truro City Council says it has been told by South West Water that Castle Street is expected to close on Thursday for emergency works. The closure is due to start at 9.30am and covers the road from Truro Crown Court downhill towards the turning for the Leats.

South West Water expects the closure to stay in place through the day. There is a chance the works could overrun into Friday morning if the crews need more time to finish the job.

What it means for getting around

Delivery vehicles and access to homes and businesses along the closed stretch will be managed through the closure where possible, but the council is warning drivers to expect delays. Anyone with deliveries due or plans to get in or out of a property on that section of Castle Street should build in extra time.

Water supplies are not affected

South West Water has confirmed the works themselves will not affect anyone’s water supply. The company has apologised for the disruption the closure will cause while the emergency works are carried out.

Truro City Council says it will post a further update if it hears of any changes or delays to the works, so it is worth keeping an eye on the council’s channels before setting off on Thursday.
