Chris was nominated by Councillor Lorrie Eathorne Gibbons and seconded by Councillor Steven Webb.
Thanking the council for its support, Chris said:
“I am honoured to have been nominated as the Mayor of Truro and look forward to working with the new council.
“My two key priorities for the coming year are to encourage and support the growth of community groups and work with the young people of Truro.”

Loic Rich to serve as Deputy Mayor

Councillors also elected Councillor Loic Rich as Deputy Mayor. A civic ceremony to confirm both roles will take place on 9th June.

How the Mayor is chosen

The process for electing the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Truro is set out in the authority’s Standing Orders and Procedural Guidance. The vote is held at the Annual Meeting, which is open to both the press and the public.

All 24 elected councillors are eligible to stand for the roles. Once candidates are formally nominated and seconded, councillors vote in public, with the candidate receiving the most votes taking the position. The same process is followed for Deputy Mayor.
