Free Truro football sessions are back, and places are limited

Truro’s summer holidays are about to get a free upgrade for any child who fancies a kickabout. On Monday 24 August, a full day of coaching, games and feel-good activities lands at Hendra Playing Field, and it will not cost families a penny. The catch is a small one. There are only 30 places.

A free day of football at Hendra

The Truro Community Football Sessions are back for 2026, running from 10am to 3pm on Hendra Road. The day is built around high-quality coaching from Supasport South West, mixed with fun football games and multi-skill activities designed to boost health, confidence and wellbeing. Every coach is fully qualified, insured and DBS-checked, so children are kept safe and supported from start to finish.

It is open to both boys and girls aged 5 to 15, and organisers say the emphasis is on having a good time as much as picking up skills.

More than a kickabout

Football is the draw, but the day pulls in extra support from a run of local partners. Healthy Cornwall, Young People Cornwall and The CHAOS Group will all be on hand with extra fun, support and wellbeing activities, turning a football session into a fuller day out for the young people who come along.

When, where and how to book

The sessions run on Monday 24 August 2026, from 10am to 3pm at Hendra Playing Field, Hendra Road, Truro, TR1 3TR. Families are asked to send children along with a packed lunch, a drink and suitable clothing for a day outdoors. Places are free but capped at just 30, so they are likely to go quickly. The project is planned and managed by Truro City Council‘s Community Development Department, part of its work supporting initiatives across local communities. With only 30 places on offer, the day is expected to fill fast.
