New Boardwalk Completed at Daubuz Moor – What’s Changed?
Major Work Completed on Popular Nature Spot
Visitors to Daubuz Moor can now enjoy a brand-new boardwalk, thanks to efforts by Truro’s Countryside Rangers and their team of volunteers.
The replacement of one of the longer boardwalks has been the focus of work over the past two weeks. The construction process was extensive, with Marcus from the maintenance team playing a key role in the build.
Volunteers Step Up in the Rain
Despite wet weather, dedicated volunteers joined in to add the finishing touches, helping to complete the new boardwalk.
The team hopes visitors will enjoy using the improved route on their next walk through the moor. However, they still recommend wearing welly boots, as the area can remain muddy.
A Hidden Gem in Truro
Daubuz Moor, a six-hectare nature reserve managed by Truro City Council, is known for its diverse habitats, including wildflower meadows, wetlands, and a healthy stream. The River Allen forms its western boundary, providing a habitat for trout and various aquatic species.
The area has a rich history, once used for grazing sheep and cattle, and was home to Moresk Mill, a 19th-century flour mill. It also lies beneath the viaduct originally built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in 1859, which now carries the main Paddington to Penzance rail line.
Daubuz Moor remains a popular destination for walkers, dog owners, and wildlife enthusiasts. With the new boardwalk in place, visitors can continue exploring its scenic routes while enjoying the natural beauty of this historic green space.
