Night closures coming to Trennick Lane in Truro
If Trennick Lane is part of your evening drive, you’ll need another way round for a while.
Cornwall Council is closing the road overnight from Monday 26 October so the surface can be repaired, and the work is expected to take up to two weeks. Truro City Council has shared the details with residents ahead of the start.

When the road will be closed
The closure runs from 7pm to 4am on weeknights only, so the lane will be open as normal during the day and at weekends. It’s part of Cornwall Council’s October and November highways maintenance scheme in Truro, and the work itself is being carried out by Cormac.
Resurfacing depends on the weather. Cold temperatures and heavy rain can delay it, and the council says the information is correct at the time of circulation but could change at short notice. If the works are postponed or cancelled, the advance notice boards on site will be updated.
The council has acknowledged that night-time work can be noisy for people living nearby. It says the noisiest jobs will be done as early in the shift as possible, and it will try to keep any disruption down if the works overrun.
Don’t leave your car on the lane
A Clearway Parking Zone will be in force along the full length of the site during working hours. Any designated parking bays inside the area will be suspended.
Vehicles left in the signed areas will be towed and charges will apply. Under the Traffic Management Act 2004, Cormac declares the road a Clearway on the council’s behalf for the period of the works, and households and businesses in the area should receive a letter before the work begins. Signs will also be put up.
The site team will try to find the owner of any parked car before asking for it to be moved. If yours does get taken, an approved contractor will move it to a safe place and the owner or keeper will need to call 0300 1234 222 to arrange collection.
Getting in and out
Access for residents and businesses will be kept open through gateways run by traffic marshals, but expect significant delays. You’ll need to stop at the gateway, and staff will guide you into or out of the site using the right route.
If the team needs to move machinery out of the way, there could be longer waits, or you may be asked to come in from the other end of the closure. Emergency access will be maintained at all times.
All through traffic will have to follow the signed diversions. Signs will go up at major junctions before the closure to steer non-through traffic away. The council points out that diversion routes have to suit the type of traffic that normally uses the road, so they can be fairly long.

Watch your step
Anyone walking near the works is asked to look out for uneven road surface where the old surface has been removed, raised manholes, gullies and service boxes, and varying kerb heights stepping off the footway. Designated crossing points should be used where they’re provided.
Where to find more information
The closure and diversion details are on the one.network listing for the Trennick Lane works. Changes to bus services are posted on the Cornwall Council planned public transport disruptions page.
Questions about the resurfacing can be emailed to [email protected]. Problems with a road, highway or footway can be reported on the Cornwall Council website, and anything that’s a threat to public safety should be phoned through to 0300 1234 222, which is staffed 24 hours a day.
