Truro Coffee Morning Raises Over £1,000 for Christian Aid Week
A coffee morning in Truro has raised more than £1,000 in support of Christian Aid Week 2025, with locals gathering to enjoy tea, cake and crafts for a good cause.
Community Support in Truro
The event was hosted by Sue and Barry Pettit, with support from volunteers from St George’s Church. It aimed to raise funds for Christian Aid’s work with local partners across the globe, helping communities find practical, long-term ways out of poverty.
Sue said: “We enjoy getting together with friends and neighbours for our coffee morning with stalls selling all kinds of goods and a raffle. It was well supported, the weather was mostly dry and we raised £1,034.70.”
Focus on Guatemala
This year’s appeal highlighted the situation in Guatemala, where climate change is making the seasons more unpredictable and severe. Farming families are facing hunger and poverty as water sources dry up and crops fail.
In response, communities are adapting by diversifying crops, building water recycling systems and making organic fertiliser to improve resilience.
