Truro Entrepreneur Celebrates Three Years of Sustainable Kitchen Renovations

Phil Chrysandrea, a Truro-based entrepreneur, is celebrating the third anniversary of his successful business venture, Kitchen Makeovers. Launched in January 2021, the company has shown remarkable growth, expanding its services to Plymouth and renovating over 70 households in 2023 alone. Phil’s ambitious vision for the future aims to increase the company’s presence, engage more with the community, and support his young family.

Originally from London, Phil moved to Truro in 2008 for a career opportunity in tiling, which fell through due to the financial crisis. Rather than returning to London, he embraced the challenge and established a sustainable business. Over a decade later, he proudly calls the area home and runs a company poised for even greater success in 2024.

Reflecting on his journey, Phil said, “The move here was a shock initially, given the contrasting attitudes and lifestyles. But now, I love it here and what I do. The work I’ve done in the community, providing job opportunities and sustainable kitchen makeovers, is something I’m proud of. The progress in these three years is just the beginning.”

Kitchen Makeovers fills a market niche in home renovations by retaining existing kitchen units and replacing key elements to revamp them sustainably. The company has eschewed traditional showrooms for technology-driven solutions, enhancing customer experiences while significantly reducing their carbon footprint. This approach, Phil believes, is a cornerstone of their success.

Phil, describing his hands-on approach, said, “Being a people person helps in this business. I engage directly with clients in their homes, discussing options and providing pre-work visualisations. This method suits busy families who can’t visit showrooms. I’ve managed a good work-life balance and am excited for the future, especially in helping more homes transform their kitchens sustainably.”

Launching amidst a national lockdown, Phil faced initial challenges but has since steered Kitchen Makeovers towards becoming a leading name in sustainable home renovations across Cornwall. With a focus on personalised and eco-friendly kitchen transformations, the company is set to serve an expanding customer base.
