Truro Post Office to close as TG Jones shuts up shop

Popping into Pydar Street for a book of stamps in Truro is about to get more complicated. The Post Office counter tucked inside TG Jones has a closing date, and the whole shop is not far behind it.

A closing date now confirmed

Truro City Council has been told that TG Jones will close the Post Office inside its shop on Pydar Street on Tuesday 6 October 2026. Four days later, on 10 October, the wider TG Jones shop will cease trading altogether.

What Truro City Council is doing

Truro City Council says the loss of a Post Office in Truro is of significant concern, and it is now working with partners to see whether the decision can be reversed, or, if that is not possible, to find suitable premises for an alternative Post Office facility in the city.
