Truro Riverside Walk Shut: When Can You Use It Again?

A well-loved stretch of riverside path in Truro has been temporarily closed this week to allow essential tree removal works to take place at Boscawen Park.

Truro City Council closed the Riverside Walk on Monday 20th April for one week, with the path expected to reopen on Monday 27th April.

Why Is It Closed?

The closure is part of the council’s ongoing clean-up efforts following Storm Goretti, which struck in January. Two trees were brought down into the river during the storm and need to be professionally removed by contractors.

The trees being removed are a eucalyptus tree near the Sunny Corner end of the Riverside Walk, and a macrocarpa tree near the Truro Tide Gates end of the path.

What About the Resurfacing Works?

The tree removal has also had a knock-on effect on planned maintenance. Resurfacing of the Riverside Walk, which had previously been scheduled, has now been postponed. The council says a further update on new dates will be provided once they are confirmed.

Advice for Dog Walkers

The council has acknowledged that Boscawen Park is a popular spot for dog walking and has apologised for any inconvenience caused, encouraging dog owners to find an alternative route while the works are under way.
