1,000 tonnes later, a new Kernow Reuse Shop opens at Connon Bridge
A ribbon, a pair of scissors and a table full of cakes. Not the usual scene at a place built around things people no longer want.
The Kernow Reuse Shop at Connon Bridge had its official opening last week, and the team had a second reason to celebrate on the day.

A milestone for the Kernow Reuse Shops
Since the first Kernow Reuse Shop opened in 2024, more than 1,000 tonnes of items have been saved from going to waste across Cornwall.
The team put that down to Cornish communities. Every item donated, every bargain found and every purchase made has helped give perfectly good things a second life, and made a difference to the environment along the way.
In a post marking the occasion, the team said a big well done and thank you to everyone who has supported the shops so far.
Pre-loved furniture and homeware at Connon Bridge
The new shop sells pre-loved furniture and homeware, and the team says it hopes Connon Bridge will mean more items reused, less waste and a more sustainable future for Cornwall.
Cakes for the opening event were supplied by The Old Mill Village Shop Ltd in Blackwater, which the team thanked for the spread.
“Cornwall, you’ve been amazing,” the team said. “Let’s keep the reuse revolution going!”
