Cornwall Bin Collections Start at 6am on June 23 and 24
If you live in Cornwall, your bins could be emptied before you’ve finished your first coffee this week.
Cornwall Council has confirmed that waste and recycling crews will start their rounds earlier than usual on June 23 and 24 to beat the heat. That means the lorry could reach your street well before its normal time.

What you need to do
Put your containers out by 6am on both days. If you leave it until the time you’d usually wheel the bin to the kerb, there’s a real chance the crew has already been and gone.
The earlier start applies to everything the council collects, so check you’ve got the right containers out for your collection day.
What’s affected
The 6am deadline covers:
- Recycling
- Food waste
- Rubbish
- Garden waste containers
- Clinical waste
Why it’s happening
The council says the earlier rounds are about beating the heat, getting crews through their routes before the hottest part of the day. Miss the 6am window and you may be waiting until your next scheduled collection.
