Cornwall Council Issues Safety Advice for Recycling Centre Visits
Cornwall Council is reminding people to take extra care when visiting Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs), with a focus on preventing avoidable injuries.

Safety advice for visitors
Residents are being advised to wear sturdy footwear and suitable clothing when attending any HWRC. The council says this can help reduce the risk of injury while moving around the sites.
Extra caution is also being urged when disposing of certain items. Broken furniture may contain hidden screws or nails that could cause cuts, while sharp edges on metal items and broken glass present an additional hazard when carrying or handling waste.
Booking required at selected sites
Visitors are also reminded that booking in advance is required before attending several HWRC locations. This applies to sites at Bodmin, Bude, Launceston, Newquay, Saltash, St Austell and St Erth.
The guidance aims to help ensure visits to recycling centres remain safe and well managed for everyone.
