Fridges and freezers welcome again at Cornwall’s recycling centres

That fridge or chest freezer that’s been sitting by the shed all summer, waiting for someone to sort it, can finally go.

Cornwall Council has confirmed that broken fridges and freezers can once again be taken to any of Cornwall’s Household Waste and Recycling Centres for recycling. Anyone with an old appliance to get rid of can now drop it off at their local site as normal.

Why they’d stopped taking them

The sites had been temporarily unable to accept fridges and freezers over the summer, due to a national issue affecting how the appliances are collected and processed. The council says that issue has now been resolved.

Taking yours in

There’s no need to do anything differently. Fridges and freezers go back into the usual routine at Cornwall’s recycling centres, alongside everything else the sites already take. For opening times, locations and what else can be recycled at each site, Cornwall Council’s household waste and recycling centres page has the details for all 14 across the county.
