Storm Austen: what Cornwall Council is asking of your Friday bins
If Friday is bin day at yours, the usual habit of wheeling everything out the night before is off this week.
Cornwall Council has asked households due a collection on Friday (23 October) to wait until the morning, with Storm Austen bringing strong winds.

What to do if your bins are due on Friday
If your rubbish or recycling is due to be collected on Friday, the council is asking you to:
- Put it out early in the morning rather than overnight
- Only put it out if it is safe to do so
- Make sure everything is secure so nothing blows away in the strong winds
Collection times may change
The council has warned that collections could run at different times on the day.
“Please bear with us tomorrow,” the council said. “Collection times may vary, but we’ll do our best to get to you.”
Where to check for updates
If anything changes, the council says it will post updates on its social media channels, including Cornwall Council’s Facebook page.
