Heavy Showers Set to Hit Cornwall as Weather Turns Unsettled
If you’re heading out today, you might want to grab a coat and check the sky before you leave the house. Cornwall is in for a mixed few days, with heavy showers, cooler temperatures, and the threat of longer rain spells by the weekend.
The Met Office forecast for the South West, covering Wednesday 6th May to Sunday 10th May, points to a largely dry stretch overall. But Cornwall looks set to bear the brunt of the wetter weather, with slow-moving downpours expected to roll through.
What to expect today and tonight
Today started cloudy across most of the region with the odd shower. Things should brighten up for some by the afternoon, but heavy, slow-moving showers may develop across Cornwall and west Devon. It will feel a touch cooler in the light breeze, with a maximum temperature of 15°C.
Tonight, the showers across Cornwall and Devon are expected to ease off, leaving a mostly dry night with clear spells for many. It should stay relatively mild, with temperatures dropping to a minimum of 4°C. Showers are forecast to return to Cornwall by dawn.
Thursday’s outlook
Thursday morning brings more showers across Cornwall, which could be heavy at times. After that, the day should turn mostly dry with bright spells. Isolated showers may pop up across Somerset and Gloucestershire later in the day. Temperatures could reach 16°C.

The weekend picture
Friday is set to bring scattered showers, mainly in the afternoons, though some areas could stay dry. Things look to take a wetter turn over the weekend, with longer periods of rain possible on both Saturday and Sunday.
The good news? After the chilly start to the week, it should turn warmer, even if those nights stay cold at first.
