Gales and Heavy Rain to Batter Cornwall’s Coast This Weekend

Cornwall is in for an unsettled stretch of weather between Saturday 6th June and Wednesday 10th June, with strong winds, heavy showers and longer spells of rain on the way.

A wet and windy Saturday

Today brings frequent showers and bands of rain pushing eastwards throughout the day. It will be windy across the county, and gales are likely around the coasts. There is some better news for later, with conditions turning drier and brighter across Cornwall through the afternoon. It will feel rather cool, with a maximum temperature of 16°C.

Overnight, the heavy showers clear eastwards during the evening, leaving things mostly dry with clear spells. A few light showers are still possible, and it stays breezy. The temperature drops to a minimum of 8°C.

A brighter Sunday, then more rain

Sunday looks like the pick of the next few days. It will be mostly dry with spells of sunshine, and the temperature climbs to a maximum of 19°C.

That settled feel does not last. There is an increasing risk of showery outbreaks of rain developing late in the afternoon, turning heavy over the hills by the evening. It stays breezy throughout.

What’s coming next week

Things remain unsettled from Monday into Wednesday, with a mixture of sunny spells and showery rain. Some of those showers could be heavy and thundery. Temperatures will sit a little below normal, and some of the nights are set to turn chilly.
