Thundery Showers Could Hit Cornwall Before The Weekend Warm-Up
Cornwall could see heavy, possibly thundery showers rolling in this afternoon before a warmer Saturday, with a noticeable cool-down arriving from Sunday onwards. Here is what the Met Office forecast says for the days ahead.
Friday: showers turning thundery
A grey start gives way to a brighter morning with sunny spells, although the northeast may catch a few spots of rain early on. By the afternoon, showers are expected to develop, particularly across the east of the region. Some of those showers could turn heavy, with the chance of thunder mixed in.
Despite the unsettled picture, it will feel warmer than recent days, with temperatures climbing to a maximum of 18°C.
Friday night: chilly in the countryside
Showers should fade through the evening, leaving much of the South West dry and clear overnight. Western Cornwall is the exception, where a few showers may linger into the small hours. Rural areas will turn chilly, with the temperature dropping to a minimum of 6°C.

Saturday: warm with showers along southern coasts
Saturday looks largely dry with sunny spells and a warm feel, although southern coasts will see more cloud at times. Showery rain is expected to push into Cornwall, and possibly later into Devon. The maximum temperature will lift to 20°C.
Sunday onwards: the cool-down begins
Early rain on Sunday should clear to leave a dry afternoon, but the warmth will not last. Sunday afternoon turns cooler, and Monday and Tuesday are expected to stay largely dry but cool with some bright spells. Rain is possible overnight into Tuesday.
So, layers at the ready.
